USN-7020-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago
Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems: - GPU drivers; - Network drivers; - SCSI drivers; - F2FS file system; - BPF subsystem; - IPv4 networking; (CVE-2024-42160, CVE-2024-42159, CVE-2024-42154, CVE-2024-41009, CVE-2024-42228, CVE-2024-42224)

USN-7019-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago
Ziming Zhang discovered that the DRM driver for VMware Virtual GPU did not properly handle certain error conditions, leading to a NULL pointer dereference. A local attacker could possibly trigger this vulnerability to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2022-38096) Gui-Dong Han discovered that the software RAID driver in the Linux kernel contained a race condition, leading to an integer overflow vulnerability. A privileged attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2024-23307) Chenyuan Yang discovered that the CEC driver driver in the Linux kernel contained a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-23848) It was discovered that a race condition existed in the Bluetooth subsystem in the Linux kernel when modifying certain settings values through debugfs. A privileged local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2024-24857, CVE-2024-24858, CVE-2024-24859) Bai Jiaju discovered that the Xceive XC4000 silicon tuner device driver in the Linux kernel contained a race condition, leading to an integer overflow vulnerability. An attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2024-24861) Chenyuan Yang discovered that the Unsorted Block Images (UBI) flash device volume management subsystem did not properly validate logical eraseblock sizes in certain situations. An attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2024-25739) Chenyuan Yang discovered that the USB Gadget subsystem in the Linux kernel did not properly check for the device to be enabled before writing. A local attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2024-25741) Benedict Schlüter, Supraja Sridhara, Andrin Bertschi, and Shweta Shinde discovered that an untrusted hypervisor could inject malicious #VC interrupts and compromise the security guarantees of AMD SEV-SNP. This flaw is known as WeSee. A local attacker in control of the hypervisor could use this to expose sensitive information or possibly execute arbitrary code in the trusted execution environment. (CVE-2024-25742) It was discovered that the JFS file system contained an out-of-bounds read vulnerability when printing xattr debug information. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2024-40902) Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. USN-6885-3: Apache HTTP Server vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago
USN-6885-1 fixed several vulnerabilities in Apache. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Original advisory details: Orange Tsai discovered that the Apache HTTP Server mod_rewrite module incorrectly handled certain substitutions. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to execute scripts in directories not directly reachable by any URL, or cause a denial of service. Some environments may require using the new UnsafeAllow3F flag to handle unsafe substitutions. (CVE-2024-38474, CVE-2024-38475) Orange Tsai discovered that the Apache HTTP Server incorrectly handled certain response headers. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to obtain sensitive information, execute local scripts, or perform SSRF attacks. (CVE-2024-38476) Orange Tsai discovered that the Apache HTTP Server mod_proxy module incorrectly handled certain requests. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2024-38477)

USN-7018-1: OpenSSL vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago
Robert Merget, Marcus Brinkmann, Nimrod Aviram, and Juraj Somorovsky discovered that certain Diffie-Hellman ciphersuites in the TLS specification and implemented by OpenSSL contained a flaw. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to eavesdrop on encrypted communications. This was fixed in this update by removing the insecure ciphersuites from OpenSSL. (CVE-2020-1968) Paul Kehrer discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled certain input lengths in EVP functions. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2021-23840) Elison Niven discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled the c_rehash script. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to execute arbitrary commands when c_rehash is run. (CVE-2022-1292) Chancen and Daniel Fiala discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled the c_rehash script. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to execute arbitrary commands when c_rehash is run. (CVE-2022-2068) It was discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled excessively large Diffie-Hellman parameters. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2023-3446) Bahaa Naamneh discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled certain malformed PKCS12 files. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2024-0727)

USN-7017-1: Quagga vulnerability

2 months 1 week ago
Iggy Frankovic discovered that Quagga incorrectly handled certain BGP messages. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause Quagga to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

USN-7016-1: FRR vulnerability

2 months 1 week ago
Iggy Frankovic discovered that FRR incorrectly handled certain BGP messages. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause FRR to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

USN-7000-2: Expat vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago
USN-7000-1 fixed vulnerabilities in Expat. This update provides the corresponding updates for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Original advisory details: Shang-Hung Wan discovered that Expat did not properly handle certain function calls when a negative input length was provided. An attacker could use this issue to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-45490) Shang-Hung Wan discovered that Expat did not properly handle the potential for an integer overflow on 32-bit platforms. An attacker could use this issue to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-45491, CVE-2024-45492)

USN-7001-2: xmltok library vulnerabilities

2 months 1 week ago

USN-7008-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities

2 months 2 weeks ago
Chenyuan Yang discovered that the CEC driver driver in the Linux kernel contained a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-23848) It was discovered that the JFS file system contained an out-of-bounds read vulnerability when printing xattr debug information. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2024-40902) Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system.
